2/3/12 - NSW Update
First, on a sad note, this is to advise that Scott Dunstan has lost his battle with cancer. Scott lead his large family fleet to many regattas and was a stalwart of Connells Point SC and the NS14 class and he and his family will be well known to many of you. Our condolences to Jenny and the family.
You will have noticed that the Forum hosted by HQ in the US disappeared. It was severely hacked and essentially destroyed. Adrian has built another one but we are having to start from scratch again. Those who had boats for sale in that section should go and build a new ad for their boat; Bill tried to recreate the list that was there but it may not be complete. To find the Forum go to http://ns14.forumup.com.au or look under ‘Boats for Sale’ on the website.
A reminder that the Sprint Series is on this Sunday 4th March at Teralba Amateur Sailing Club; Download NOR; racing not before 1000 hours; canteen operating; entertainment guaranteed! This is followed by the second day of the MT to be held at Northbridge Sailing Club on Sunday 18th March; two races, first not before 1000 hours; Download NOR.
NSW State Championship
Download the NOR complete with our first effort at an on-line entry with a credit card payment facility. We are keen to see how it works and to get your feedback. If you have any problems with the actual on-line entry (which is hosted by YA) please contact me at tait_fam@bigpond.net.au; if you have any queries about the regatta itself and your entry in it please contact Neil at nsracesec@hotmail.com.
Entry is also possible the old-fashioned way but we encourage you to use the on-line facility.
Available for download are an Entry Form and a Social Form; if you use the on-line facility you do not have to send these forms in.
In addition is a Safety Check List; please have this completed and signed before registration and bring it with you or email it to nsracesec@hotmail.com before the regatta.
Georges River 16ft Sailing Club is looking forward to welcoming you all to some fantastic sailing and great entertainment on and off the water!
Note that the NORs have a trial amendment to allow eligible MG14s to enter these events. The MG14 States are being held from 16th - 18th March at Queens Lake.
Don’t forget to renew your membership if you haven’t already; this must be done on the form attached; it is a prerequisite to entering any Association event.
And High School attendees (public and private anywhere in the country) don’t forget to enter the CHS at Belmont 16 Footers immediately after Easter; it’s huge! To enter go to http://sail16s.com.au/regattas_detail.asp?regattaID=61
31/1/12 - NSW Update
What a great Nationals! Commiserations to those that missed the fantastic, exhilarating reaches down the big sea rollers, pounding works to a top mark only found by the red flag at the top of a yacht’s mast and a start on the surf break off Cronulla township! Magic! 59 boats – biggest for fourteen years. Fantastic work Cronulla Sailing Club and thanks to our major sponsor Zhik and to Rob Brewer for providing the jib for 1st on handicap and Ronstan and the other contributors that Neil persuaded to support the class.
But now that everyone is fully recovered from holidays, Christmas/New Year excesses and the Nationals we can all concentrate on the second part of the season!
First up is the Single Handed Championship hosted by Chipping Norton Lake Sailing Club on 4th/5th February. Details are attached and more information can be found at http://www.cnlsc.org.au/. This is a whole different dimension of NS14 sailing and can teach you a lot about your boat – and you! Easy rigging and launching area, friendly locals and there is a nice trophy to win but the competition is hot!
